Throumpa Olives are primarily grown in the Greek island of Thassos. These olives mature naturally, without any human intervention. They are left to ripen and wrinkled on the branch of the tree, and when they are fully matured, they are collected by nets that are placed under the trees. These olives are the only ones that can be eaten directly from the tree. They are meaty with a strong olive taste, a wrinkled skin and a chewy texture. The most common way to eat them is to drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano.
